What matters most to us:

We're a family owned business that's been in Vancouver for over 60 years, and so naturally our focus is on our local employees and community. But recently, we've had a greater emphasis on how to run our business with a much lighter footprint on the environment. For example, we've recently added hybrid trucks and trikes to our fleet of delivery vehicles which is the biggest part of our operational impact.

The Assessment gave us a sense of what practices to prioritize over others. Before, we were doing a lot of offsets for our operations, and the Assessment forced us to ask harder questions about the carbon in our supply chain or about making our warehouse more energy efficient. So it helped our money go much further by just asking us the tough questions.

What we did as a result:

Since then, we've also started looking at how to localize our supply chain. We used to source from a pretty nationally known green brand, but we ended up finding a local company that was actually far superior on its environmental attributes but possibly just not as well advertised. We are just more mindful these days.
