What matters most to us:
The sharing of power between the nut-growing communities and corporate buyers has been very unbalanced in the past. Our company was built to change the supply chain of brazil nuts so that there is a more fair relationship between these two groups.
What we learned:
We became more confident about our social impact when we had an objective standard to measure our success against. It is much better to have a concrete number than a feeling or a story. This process also helped others, especially customers and other buyers, have more trust in our company.
What we did as a result:
We initially received a lower score on Environment and Community than we were expecting. We initially became a little frustrated, because our company was simply not collecting the information to show proof of our impact here. As a result of taking this Assessment, we are much more conscious about prospecting better information from our suppliers so that we can stand behind what we are saying.
Features/Improvements we are looking forward to:
More comparative data on how other Brazilian businesses are performing.
